Let associates move forward without losing control of the matter

Associates progress through full rereads.

You will recognise it
  1. Partners review every document end to end.
  2. The same corrections come back from one matter to the next.
  3. Associates learn what was expected of them at review time.

Work goes back and gets done again.

On an engagement

2023 · Employment law firm, Paris · 11 partners · 32 associates

Associates turned to partners for recurring tasks: finding a precedent, a template, a letter, a procedural detail. 54% of internal requests were recurring, and 29% needed less than fifteen minutes of legal reasoning. Partners spent about 7 hours a week on them.

We built a resource library in SharePoint and Teams, where each resource says when to use it, how, its limits and when to ask for approval. An escalation route handles non-standard situations. In six months, requests needing a partner fell from 54% to 31%, partner time from 7 to 3 hours a week, and 76% of associates use the library.

What changes

An associate progresses when they know what is expected and where to find good examples. Templates, planned review points and regular feedback replace full re-reads.

What we put in place
