Let teams move forward without losing control

Teams wait for your green light, even for routine matters.

You will recognise it
  1. A standard contract waits days for your sign-off.
  2. Teams don’t know what they can sign on their own.
  3. You review documents the teams could approve themselves.

Work piles up at the same checkpoint.

On an engagement

2025 · French industrial mid-size company · 5 lawyers · 11 business units

Almost every decision with a contractual element went up to legal. 47% of requests could have been handled by the teams, and 32% concerned cases already covered by a rule. Two units approved the same type of contract in two different ways. The general counsel put it this way: “We have a delegation policy. It just lives in five people’s heads.”

We wrote a delegation matrix covering the twenty situations that make up most of the volume: who decides, within which limits, with which template, when to escalate. Three risk levels were enough. Built into the existing circuits, it cut unnecessary escalations from 32% to 9% in six months, and approval routes from four to one.

What changes

Business teams can move on part of their matters alone when the frame is written down: what they can sign, what they must flag, what belongs to legal. Control then sits on the rules rather than on every matter.

What we put in place

Delegation rules, self-service templates, thresholds above which legal steps in.
