Work first on what matters to the business

Everything lands on legal, and everything becomes a priority.

You will recognise it
  1. Every request arrives marked “urgent”.
  2. Strategic work comes after the day’s questions.
  3. You set priorities alone, email by email.

Work piles up at the same checkpoint.

On an engagement

2021 · Legal department of a French B2B services group · 18 people · 9 countries

The company was accelerating: acquisitions, new markets, sharply rising sales volume. Legal worked well, but as it always had. 72% of the team’s time went to reactive requests, and eleven priorities competed for the rest. At an executive meeting, three topics the CEO held as strategic appeared in none of legal’s priorities.

We started from the group’s five objectives to decide what legal should stop, continue or reinforce. The eleven priorities became four workstreams, each tied to an objective, an owner and an indicator, tracked monthly in Power BI. No legal tool was bought. Six months later, reactive time had fallen from 72% to 49%, and every new topic was settled with one question: which objective does it serve?

What changes

When everything lands in the same place, everything becomes a priority. The model separates what can move on its own, what needs support and what calls for a legal decision.

What we put in place

Survey of incoming requests, priorities matched to company objectives, indicators followed by management.
